Man charged with murder of resident in Ipoh nursing home


IPOH:A 50-year-old man was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here with murdering another man at a rehabilitation and nursing home.

Lai Mun Kong was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which provides the death penalty upon sentencing.

No plea was recorded and Magistrate Jesseca Daimis set Sept 29 for mention.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Aqilah Syaza Ariffin prosecuted, while the accused was not represented.

According to the charge sheet, Lai allegedly murdered 42-year-old Lim Han Tong at a time between 6am and 6.50am on Aug 24 in a toilet at the home in Chemor.

Both Lai and the victim are residents at the home.
